Working

4 x c5.4xlarge = 128 normalized units reserved. c5 family, us-east-1, Linux/UNIX usage runs c5.2xlarge 3.5 x 16 = 56 units, so this reservation fills 56 and 72 units sit idle. Selling 2: 2 x $0.4080/hr = $0.8160/hr x 7,200 hours (300 days left, up to 12 months) x 80% recovery = $4,700.16.

Method

1Normalization factors: nano 0.25, micro 0.5, small 1, medium 2, large 4, xlarge 8, and 8 per xlarge above that (2xlarge 16, 4xlarge 32, 12xlarge 96). Bare metal sizes use a small embedded reference table (m5, c5, r5, m6i, c6i, r6i and Graviton families); other metal types match by exact type only.

2Regional Linux/UNIX reservations with default tenancy are size flexible within their family and Region. Zonal, Windows, RHEL, SUSE and dedicated reservations match their exact type, platform and tenancy, and are applied first.
